Bunkering in Algeciras
Ports of the State data show Algeciras selling 284,571 tonnes in July 2026 and 1.72 million tonnes for January to July. ENGINE puts that month at 36% of the national total. On LNG, the port authority reported about 150,000 tonnes and 78 ship-to-ship operations in 2025 and says it ranks third in Europe after Rotterdam and Marseille-Fos.
Gibraltar shares the same bay, and the difference between the two lies in the rules. Algeciras is an EU port, so FuelEU and the at-berth rule apply directly, while Gibraltar is outside the EU.
