Bunkering in Singapore
Reports based on MPA data put Singapore's 2025 bunker sales at 56.77 million tonnes, beating the 54.92 million tonne record of 2024. About 571,400 tonnes were LNG and 1.36 million tonnes biofuel blends. The port lies at the exit of the Malacca Strait, on the main route between Asia and Europe.
The framework for quantity disputes differs from other ports. Since 1 January 2017 fuel oil has been delivered through an MPA-approved mass flow meter, and the BDN quantity comes from the meter. Tank gauging is a fallback only if the meter fails, with permission.
